The Embassy of the Republic of Angola in Portugal reacted with “consternation” to the death of six young Angolans, victims of a car accident in the early hours of Sunday in Lisbon, offering condolences to their families.
“It was with consternation that we learned of the death this Sunday in Lisbon of six young Angolans, victims of a tragic road accident”, can be read in a short note sent to Lusa.
According to the letter, the Angolan ambassador to Portugal, Maria de Jesus Ferreira, recalled that they were “young people with a bright future ahead of them” and of whom the country “expected a lot”.
“May the bereaved families find the strength necessary to overcome this moment of enormous pain, receiving all our solidarity”, referred to in the note.
“In this moment of pain, on my personal behalf and that of all the employees of the Embassy of the Republic of Angola in the Portuguese Republic, we extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families for these irreparable losses”, he ends in the letter.
Six people died in the early hours of Sunday after a light vehicle crashed on Avenida das Forças Armadas, in Lisbon, which caught fire after the collision, leaving the victims charred.
The alert for the deadly accident was given at around 3:40 am on Sunday.
As a PSP source told Lusa on Sunday, a light vehicle “crashed, hit a pillar and caught fire”. , inside there were five people who were charred.”
Initially, a source from the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the Public Security Police (PSP) told Lusa that five people had died in the accident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday. “The first information we had was that there were five charred victims inside the vehicle”, said the source.
