Stating that Gandhi had asked him in the Lok Sabha why the Congress “loses elections every time”, Shah said that while Gandhi should have directed the question to the people, he chose to ask it to him instead. “I would request Rahulbaba to understand these two programmes and he will understand why the party loses every time,” Shah said, adding that while the Congress government had settled people in this village in 1973, it is the Narendra Modi-led BJP government that has given them land rights.
The original Vanjar village was destroyed in a Sabarmati river flood in 1973, following which residents were resettled at the current location by the state government. However, their land rights remained unsettled till Sunday, when they were formally presented certificates by Shah.
Sharpening his attack, Shah said that while Gandhi should have understood this, he remains “stuck with understanding the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral list, which is not his job”.
“Rahulbaba, don’t get tired of losing just yet,” Shah said, adding that he will face defeat in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, and that in 2029 the BJP will form the government again under Narendra Modi’s leadership.
