Altri recorded, in the first nine months of 2025, profits of 12.4 million euros, a drop of 86.2% compared to the same period last year, he said in a statement.
The group said it was “affected by exchange rate variations and tariffs, as well as the Celbi turbine incident (start-up at the end of March), and the ‘ramp-up’ [aumento acelerado] of soluble fiber at Biotek”.
The group’s total revenue reached “around 537.8 million euros, a decrease of 19.7% compared to the same period last year”, he highlighted.
According to Altri, this drop is “attributable to a less favorable evolution in the prices of ‘hardwood’ fibers, as well as lower volumes sold, as a consequence of a less favorable global environment for the sector”.
The group’s EBITDA (results before taxes, interest, depreciation and amortization) reached 69.3 million euros by September, a value 61.5% lower than the same period in 2024, a decrease “resulting from less favorable market conditions with an impact on prices, amplified by the very unfavorable evolution” of the dollar.
“Despite being one of the most efficient fiber producers in Europe, the Altri group presented an operational profitability below historical levels, and this unfavorable context has led to adjustments on the supply side in the sector, reestablishing some balance between demand and supply”, highlighted the company.
According to the group, taking into account the global increase in demand for fibers, already during the fourth quarter, there has been “a slight recovery in fiber prices”, which reached lows during the third quarter of this year.
This allows “anticipating an improvement in profitability for the Altri group in the last quarter of the year”, he indicated.
The total net investment made by Altri in the first nine months of 2025 was 39.2 million euros, compared to 24.5 million euros in the same period last year.
The group’s net debt reached 346.5 million euros at the end of September, compared to 317.5 million euros at the end of June 2025, an evolution, “already expected in the level of investment related to the various diversification projects”.
According to Altri, “in the first nine months of 2025, the production volume of cellulosic fibers reached 810.7 thousand tons, in line with that recorded in the same period of 2024”, and the total volume of fiber sales until the end of September was 805.5 thousand tons, “2.7% lower than the same period last year and in line with the level of fibers produced in the period”.
