Airbus will inspect 628 A320 aircraft due to possible quality defects in the fuselage, as the fleet has panels with abnormal dimensions, caused by manufacturing problems.
According to the Europa Press news agency, the majority of these aircraft are still in the possession of the European company, 245 are in the final assembly line or being prepared for delivery, while 215 are in earlier stages of production and another 168 are in service with airlines.
The manufacturer expects a “significant proportion” of the panels to meet its specifications, meaning they will be valid in their current state.
This new problem comes days after Airbus detected a problem in the software of its A320 family planes, affecting around 6,000 aircraft, with most of the incidents already resolved.
“We are working with our airline customers to support the modification of the less than 100 remaining aircraft and ensure they can return to service,” the company highlighted on Monday.
Airbus also regretted the difficulties and delays caused to passengers and airlines by this incident.
The European manufacturer is still facing difficulties in meeting its annual target of delivering a total of 820 commercial aircraft.
