The move comes in compliance with an order issued by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to prevent further deterioration in air quality in Delhi-NCR as pollution levels have already crossed 450 AQI.
“In compliance to the order (CAQM order of GRAP-IV), all Heads of Schools of Government, Government Aided, Unaided Recognized Private Schools of DOE, NDMC, MCD and Delhi Cantonment Board are directed to conduct classes in schools for children up to Class IX and XI in a ‘Hybrid’ Mode i.e. both in physical and online mode (wherever online mode is feasible) with immediate effect until further orders,” the circular reads.
The DoE clarified that the choice to opt for the online mode, wherever available, will rest with students and their guardians. Schools have also been asked to immediately inform parents and guardians about the decision.
The circular further directs district and zonal education officers to visit schools under their jurisdiction to ensure proper compliance with the order.
