The National Union of Civil Aviation Workers (Sintac) proposed to the handling company Portway 8% increases in the salary table and an update to the meal allowance, the structure said in a statement.
The union stated that it presented to Portway “a salary review proposal that includes an 8% update to the salary table and the update of the meal allowance to 210 euros per month (10.50 euros/day)”.
The union structure proposal also includes the “updating of several remuneration components”, including the “coordination allowance, the supervisor/team leader allowance, a quarterly attendance bonus and the creation of new role complements” which Sintac says aims to “adjust in a balanced way the different responsibilities carried out by workers”.
The union also registered “its strong concern with the current approach of the national minimum wage to entry levels in the company”, a situation that, it assured, “already covers more than a third of the salary table”.
According to Sintac, “this scenario causes internal demotivation, as workers with around 20 years of service, positioned at the next levels, end up receiving practically the same as newly hired workers”.
Furthermore, he highlighted, “this salary compression means that workers at the beginning of their careers no longer have a real expectation of progression”, since “the difference between levels is increasingly less significant”.
The union highlighted that it “presented concrete proposals to correct these distortions” and said it hoped that Portway would consider them, “recognizing the importance of implementing measures that effectively value workers and reinforce the coherence and equity of the salary structure”.
Sintac also guaranteed that it “maintains full availability to continue the dialogue”, with the objective of “achieving solutions that promote stability, recognition and motivation within the company”.
