The second day of the civil service workers’ strike was at 09:00 this Friday, December 12, with a high turnout, with 75% in education and 90% in the canteens of universities and polytechnics, a union source told Lusa.

“It is still early for more concrete data, but at the moment we are at 75% in education, with many schools closed, 90% of the canteens at universities and polytechnics are closed and in the health area we still don’t have numbers, but it is also being affected”, Jaime Santos, president of the Independent Union of Workers of Public Organizations and Social Support (SITOPAS), told Lusa.

According to Jaime Santos, in municipal services, more specifically in garbage collection, the indication is that this was only done on Monday, so the strike in the sector is high.

SITOPAS called for two days of strike, on Thursday and this Friday, against the proposals in the labor package presented by the Government, which they say are “disrespectful towards workers”.
