About CONNTAC (EOC)

A federally funded program through the Department of Higher Education that provides free educational program that provides free educational counseling and career planning services to individuals throughout Connecticut.

Population Served

Adults –  Disabled Individuals –  High School Seniors –  GED Holders –  Veterans –  Dislocated Workers –  Inmates/Ex-Offenders –  Dropouts

Services

Application Fee Waivers – Career Planning – Financial Aid Workshops – College Referral – Group Counseling – College Tutorial – Coordination of college & career fairs

Eligibility

  • U.S. Citizen living in Connecticut who is interested in post secondary education and/or career training
    • +U.S. Citizen living in Connecticut who demonstrates financial, academic, cultural, or social need
  • Eligibility is determined by the EOC Counselor

Process

  1. EOC Counselor meets with individuals to describe EOC
  2. CONNTAC application given to individuals interested in receiving services
      • Application must be completed, signed and returned to EOC Counselor with supporting documentation
  3. Appointments are scheduled for individual counseling sessions

Scholarship

The CONNTAC, Inc. Board of Directors offers scholarship to outstanding participants who have overcome obstacles in order to obtain higher education. This scholarship is awarded to low- income residents who are the first in their families to pursue a postsecondary education. The total amount of the scholarship varies from $200 to $500. Applications are typically available during the Spring semester.

CONNTAC Counselor

  • Identifies and recruits eligible clients
  • Provides academic counseling
  • Guides career decision making
  • Suggests college referrals and effect placement
  • Guides clients to financial aid resources
  • Conducts follow-up interaction with all applicants
