Online Tutoring

“Ask TASC” Online Tutoring and Online Questions

Three Rivers has offered FREE online tutoring to its students in both online and traditional courses since 2002. Until the summer of 2009, we were using eTutoring, a program designed and administered by the Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium (CTDLC).

In the summer of 2009 we began using a new system called Ask TASC. Ask TASC utilizes the Three Rivers Tutoring and Academic Success Center’s own tutors, so you’re getting the same, high-quality service that you would get by visiting TASC in person; all of the same tutors, the same subjects, and the same familiarity with course content.

Step One

Log on to your myCommNet account at and then click on the link for Blackboard/Vista.

Step Two

From Blackboard/Vista, click on your course listing for Ask TASC – every active Three Rivers student is enrolled!

Step Three

Choose the best option for you. There are three options to choose from:

  1. Ask TASC Chat – Enter the chat room and it’s just like entering the Tutoring and Academic Success Centers. If there’s a tutor available, we’ll help you out right away. But, just as it is in TASC, you may have to make an appointment to meet with someone. If no tutor is available, just call us at 860.215.9082 or email us at to request an appointment.
  2. Ask TASC Discussion – This is for less pressing questions. Let us know what class you are in and what your question is, and someone will post a response within 24 hours (weekdays).
  3. Submit a paper to the Writing Center – Just click on the Writing Center link and follow the directions for submitting a paper via email.
