The TRCC Library has created a new gallery space, the Diversity 365 Gallery, dedicated to celebrating diversity in all its complexity. Over the course of several semesters, we will be hosting several calls for art to locate and exhibit two-dimensional art, in any medium, that celebrates the theme of diversity, equity and inclusion. All accepted art will be exhibited.
Artists submitting two-dimensional work for the “Diversity 365 Exhibition #1” must be current, retired or adjunct faculty members within the CSCU or UCONN system. Faculty members do not have to be specifically teaching in the Visual Arts to qualify to enter submissions. Work from all artists is welcome, and artists of color are encouraged to apply. Any submitted work must be original and recent. We define “recent” as having been created within the past 5 years, anytime between 2016-2021. (If you have a piece of work that you think is perfect for this exhibition, and it was created in 2015, please reach out to us. We are flexible. All entries will be checked by support staff. Any work that appears not to have been created recently, and for which we have not already given a submission allowance will be disqualified.) The TRCC Library reserves the right to reject work delivered for the exhibition which does not represent the artist’s accepted work.
Artists can submit two high-resolution images for up to three pieces of two-dimensional work done in any 2D medium (total 6 images). Submitted work must be able to fit through the library’s entry doors. The doors can accommodate dimensions up to 5’ wide x 7’ high.
Images of work should be labeled with “title, media, size, and date.” Please do not label the images of your work with your name, as all art will be anonymously reviewed by the art selection committee. Acceptable files formats are “jpg” and “png”. Image size can be up to 10MB each. Please include a brief artist’s statement that explores how the work submitted reflects and responds to the theme of diversity, equity and inclusion. Artist’s statements can be up to 300 words. Artists’ statements will be exhibited with the accepted work.
Again, all submissions will be evaluated “blind” by the library’s reviewing committee. All chosen work must be delivered to the TRCC Library exhibition-ready, which means the work is ready to hang and includes the proper hanging hardware. All work submitted for this show must be available for the duration of the exhibition and must be available for purchase. Substitutions will not be accepted. Artists are responsible for insuring, delivering and picking up their work.
