Super Mustache is the name of the newest cartoon superhero in Venezuela. The character is neither more nor less than President Nicolás Maduro, who appears as the defender of the country and the symbol of the fight against American imperialism.

It was the presidency itself that supported the creation of Super Mustache, who, like the famous Superman, also wears a cape. However, he dresses in the colors of the Venezuelan flag (red, blue and yellow) and wears a worker’s helmet, a steel hand and the initials SB on his chest.

Super Mustache came into action in 2021 on Venezuelan state television (VTV) to transmit messages to the population about the enemies of the Maduro regime, but also as a way of satirizing opponents and US President Donald Trump.

However, the increase in tensions with the United States led the cartoon creators to show Super Mustache in military uniform, announcing to the world that Venezuela will not return to being a colony and exalting the spirit of the people who are willing to defend their nation.

“Venezuela is a nation of liberators! Our culture is not one of war, the militia is a reflection of the popular spirit, always willing to defend its sovereignty”, this new animated version of Maduro, who launches an appeal to the population: “The nation calls us to absolute unity. With the invincible strength of its organization, this conscious people rises up. This is our truth! United, we will win!”

Tension between Venezuela and the United States has increased since Trump announced a monetary reward for anyone who provides information leading to Maduro’s arrest and, more recently, since the US military began combating drug trafficking, with the elimination of vessels used to transport drugs in the Caribbean Sea.
