The unnamed officials, did not say which vessel had been seized, nor did they give a location for the operation, Reuters reported.

Bloomberg reported that the vessel was a Panamanian-flagged Bella 1 tanker that had been sanctioned by the US.

This comes days after president Trump ordered a “total and complete blockade” of all sanctioned oil tankers going in and out of Venezuela.

This was after US armed forces seized its first oil carrier from the central American country, which the president had called “a large tanker, very large, largest one ever seized, actually”.

Trump ordered the capture of a second oil tanker in the early hours of yesterday, December 20.
