PUTIN has once again crushed Ukrainian’s peace dreams, as Zelensky rules out the possibility of a truce in time for Christmas.
Mad Vlad is widely expected to reject the latest peace proposal negotiated this week in Berlin, amid his latest audacious order authorising the seizure of homes of Ukrainians who have fled war-torn regions.
The callous directive allows the Kremlin to confiscate properties abandoned by Ukrainians who ran for their lives during the hostile occupation.
Putin’s plan will fill the so-called “ownerless” homes with displaced Russian civilians, or turn them into official housing for soldiers.
Kyiv was hoping for a ceasefire over Christmas, in particular relating to strikes on energy facilities.
But Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday: “We don’t want a truce to give Ukraine a breathing space and prepare for a continuation of the war. We want to stop this war, achieve our goals, secure our interests, and guarantee peace in Europe for the future.”

It comes as the latest European-backed peace proposal, negotiated and approved by Zelensky earlier this week, will be delivered by the US to the Kremlin, though Putin is widely expected to reject the plan.
The evil Russian tyrant already dismissed the possibility of a Christmas truce, demanding any pause in the four-year war be on his terms.
Zelensky has again refused to give up land to war-mongering Putin, despite America’s increasing pressure on Ukraine to withdraw its forces to create a demilitarised “free economic zone”.
Moscow has said it would deploy its national guard and police to control the zone if Ukraine ever withdraw.
“I want to stress once again: a ‘free economic zone’ does not mean under the control of Russia. We do not want to give up our Donbas,” Zelensky said.
Negotiations in Berlin this week saw the Ukrainian president receive the crucial security guarantees he was seeking from his European allies and Washington.
He sought the assurances as he dutifully compromised to give up Ukraine’s long-sought Nato bid, in a major concession to bring peace to his war torn country.
“These security guarantees are an opportunity to prevent another wave of Russian aggression, and this is already a compromise on our part,” Zelensky said.
Donald Trump’s envoys made the unprecedented offer to provide security guarantees akin to Nato’s Article-5 to Kyiv.
The limited-time “platinum standard” offer from Trump has not come without scepticism – Britain and the US provided similar assurances when Ukraine gave up its nuclear missiles in 1994.
Diplomats from Ukraine, Europe, the US, and Russia have been embroiled in complex negotiations for months, exchanging proposals and counter-proposals in an effort to reach a consensus.
Though they snagged on two key issues: Ukraine’s eastern territory and security guarantees for Kyiv against future Russian aggression.
Speaking at the White House, Trump said: “We’re trying to get it done.
“We had numerous conversations with President Putin of Russia, and I think we’re closer now than we have been ever and we’ll see what we can do.”
Six key points in security guarantees for Kyiv
- Permanent military support – Ukraine will maintain a powerful army — up to 800,000 troops even in peacetime
- Multinational forces led by Europe – Within the “Coalition of the Willing,” with US support, forces will be created to restore Ukraine’s Armed Forces, protect the skies, and ensure maritime security. Operations inside Ukraine are possible
- Ceasefire monitoring – The monitoring mechanism will be led by the United States with international partners involved.
- Legally binding security guarantees – Any new attack on Ukraine will automatically trigger a response — military, intelligence, economic, and diplomatic.
- Reconstruction and funding – Frozen Russian assets in the EU will remain blocked.
- Path to the EU – Europe officially confirms its support for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union as a cornerstone of long-term security.
The talks in the German capital have sparked some optimism from European leaders on a path to end Europe’s deadliest conflict since World War Two.
An upbeat German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said the talks had created the “chance for a real peace process” and praised the US for offering “substantial” security guarantees.
However, Moscow is yet to agree to any of the changes discussed in Germany and has not indicated any willingness to do so.
And a consensus on territorial concessions still remains.
