This Saturday, December 13th, bad weather is affecting, for the second consecutive day, the movement of landings and take-offs at Madeira International Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo, with dozens of flights cancelled, a situation that affects thousands of passengers.
According to the information available on the ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal website, no plane was able to land or take off from the island of Madeira.
Almost all scheduled flights were canceled throughout the day today, repeating what happened on Friday.
It also indicates that only one Ryanair flight, from Lisbon, still tried to reach Madeira, but ended up returning, appearing on the online page as having diverged.
This meteorological situation also leaves Madeira and Porto Santo without connections as Porto Santo Line, concessionaire of the regular maritime line, also canceled scheduled trips between the islands on Friday and today as it considers that the safety conditions for passengers and the ship Lobo Marinho are not met.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) placed the north coast of the island of Madeira and Porto Santo under red warning (the most serious) due to strong maritime unrest until 3pm today.
The situation of heavy precipitation and wind placed Madeira under an orange warning until Sunday.
The Madeira archipelago is being affected by the Emília depression, with strong winds, snowfall and rain, which can be occasionally heavy.
