The person responsible admits that there are some differences, meaning that adaptation would be necessary, including the “physical fusion of SNS24 with our CODU centers”. “We must have similar screening algorithms”, he stressed, setting the objective of preventing “call transfers”.
“More than making a physical merger” it is necessary to “make a functional merger”, he argued, explaining that the decision of one center must be the same as the others. “If an ambulance is to be sent, the ambulance is sent; if it is just to provide advice, it will be done”, predicted the person in charge, who wants the Portuguese not to be “transferred from one center to another”. “That’s our goal,” he explained.
The INEM refounding proposal, already delivered to the Ministry of Health, argues that distress calls made to 112 and the SNS24 Health Line (808242424) are answered at the same call center.
In reaction, the INEM Workers’ Committee contested this Saturday the statements made by the Independent Technical Commission (CTI) for the refoundation of this public body, considering that they “do not reflect reality”, including proposals already implemented.
