José Manuel Pureza said that the Bloc is willing to dialogue with the remaining left-wing parties. “Count on us for this. We know how to rhyme equality with unity. We will be wherever necessary, with those who think differently than us, but who are in tune with the fight against the most right-wing government that this country has ever had after the 25th of April.”
“These are the guarantees of politics that dialogues with those who don’t think like us on all issues, of politics that doesn’t close us in on ourselves. This openness and firmness have borne fruit in the pastwe know well, and they paved the way for some of the greatest victories that this country experienced after the 25th of April”, he added.
“We want a left of bridges that knows how to dialogue, that finds convergencesthat you never forget your priorities, that you look to the future”, said José Manuel Pureza.
The new leader of the Bloc criticized the labor law that the Government “will approve with Chega”, and argued that “another path is needed and this other path begins with the general strike of December 11th”.
And he said that the party “completely sympathizes with those who, despite all the difficulties in life, choose to lose part of their salary to defend everyone’s salary.”
He argued that the strength of the general strike will come from joining it with the precarious youth, climate activists and immigrant workers who are “doubly trampled on their rights”.
José Manuel Pureza also pointed to the reorganization of the party, as defended yesterday by two of the founders, Fernando Rosas and Francisco Louçã. “More militancy, better organized, more listening, but democracy, better engagement with struggles and movements. I tell you what I think without hesitation, without hesitation. The Bloc really needs to change its internal functioning to add to the formal democracy, of which we are proud, the militant participation that makes it happen.”
