Donald Trump further toughens his Administration’s anti-immigration policy. The American president announced during Thanksgiving night that he is going to “permanently pause” the arrival of migrants from the poorest countries in the world. In a furious message posted on the Truth Social network, he has promised to “end all federal benefits and subsidies to non-citizens.”

However, and displaying his characteristic ambiguity, the Republican president has not specifically identified any of those “third world countries.” He has also added that he will take away American nationality from “immigrants who undermine internal tranquility” and will deport any foreigner who poses a threat to security or is “not compatible with Western civilization.”

“I will permanently pause migration from all third world countries to allow the American system to fully recover, cancel Biden’s millions in illegal income, including those signed by Sleepy Joe Biden’s Autopen, and expel anyone who is not a net asset to the United States,” Trump has promised.

This increase in anti-immigration policy comes a day after the death of a member of the National Guard who was shot near the White House by a 29-year-old Afghan citizen. According to authorities, the suspect, who collaborated with the CIA and fought alongside US troops during the war in Afghanistan, had received the green light for his asylum application this year.

A few hours after the incident, Trump escalated his anti-immigrant rhetoric and announced the suspension of immigration applications for Afghan citizens.

In his long message published in Truth Social, Trump has said that “the majority” of foreign-born US residents “receive welfare, come from failed nations or from prisons, mental institutions, gangs or drug cartels.” In addition, he has blamed them for committing crimes across the country that, according to the Associated Press, are mainly the work of American citizens.
