Hundreds of leaders, delegates and union activists from the Common Front gathered this Thursday, November 27th, in front of the Assembly of the Republic, in Lisbon, against a State Budget that they consider to be “damaging to the life of the country”.

“Today there is a final global vote on a document that we understand will be harmful to the life of the country, not only for Public Administration workers, but for the country itself”, said Sebastião Santana, coordinator of the Common Front, speaking to journalists at the start of the demonstration.

“It is a Budget for disinvestment in public services, in many cases even below inflation, as is the case with health and, therefore, the consequences of this Budget will be very serious”, he added.

Protesters hold red cards and some whistles are heard.

Furthermore, they raise flags and posters with messages such as “golden slices only for capital”, “let Luís work to “take care of” the SNS, education and your rights…” or with calls for a general strike called for December 11th against the review of labor legislation.

The concentration, which began at 10:15, was called by the Common Front, affecting the CGTP, against the State Budget for 2026 (OE2026), hours before the final global vote on the document.

In addition to the coordinator of the Common Front, Sebastião Santana, the general secretary of the CGTP, Tiago Oliveira, is also present.
