The number of couples with both partners unemployed fell 7.0% in October year-on-year and fell 4.9% compared to September, to 4,523, according to data released today by the IEFP.
“Of the total number of unemployed people married or in a civil union, 9,046 (7.9%) also have a record that their spouse is also registered as unemployed with the Employment Service, totaling 4,523 unemployed couples, in October 2025, which represents -7.0%, when compared to the same period of the previous year”, points out the report from the Institute of Employment and Professional Training (IEFP).
In the chain comparison, the number of couples in which both spouses are unemployed fell by 4.9%.
For several years now, couples in this situation of double unemployment have been entitled to a 10% increase in the value of the unemployment benefit benefit, when they have dependent dependents.
The IEFP also announced that the number of unemployed people registered in employment centers fell by 4.7% in October year-on-year and fell by 1.6% compared to September, after two consecutive consecutive increases.
