At least 13 dead in an Israeli attack on the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon

The attack takes place despite the ceasefire agreed about a year ago between the Israeli Government and Hezbollah.

Israel justifies this attack by arguing that goal was a training camp belonging to Hamas in Ain el Helu, in the southern city of Sidon and where it accuses him of having been preparing its members to carry out “terrorist” plans against the Jewish State.

However, the Palestinian group described these statements as “pure inventions” and defended that the facilities attacked are actually a sports field frequented by young residents of the refugee camp, a group of whom were present there at the time of the bombing.

Israel has continued to attack Lebanon regularly despite the ceasefire agreed between both countries almost a year ago, although these actions are usually directed against targets of the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah and it is much less common for members of Palestinian formations to be hit.

However, since the beginning of the conflict at the end of 2023, there have been several attacks against faction leaders on roads, refugee camps or their surroundings, the largest being the one that killed the then number two of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas Saleh al Arouri on the outskirts of Beirut.
