The president of the Lisbon City Council, Carlos Moedas, was this Thursday elected president of the Lisbon Metropolitan Council, in a list that also includes the heads of the municipal executives of Vila Franca de Xira and Palmela as vice-presidents, respectively Paulo Ferreira (PS) and Ana Teresa Vicente (CDU).

The 18 municipalities that make up this territory participated in the voting, carried out through a nominal and weighted secret vote, at the headquarters of the Metropolitan Area of ​​Lisbon.

The single list was approved with 16 votes in favor and no votes against or null.

The newly elected representatives will perform their duties in the next four-year period 2025/2029.

The Metropolitan Council is the deliberative body of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, in accordance with the statute of intermunicipal entities.

It is made up of the presidents of the municipal councils of the 18 municipalities that make up the metropolitan area (Alcochete, Almada, Amadora, Barreiro, Cascais, Lisbon, Loures, Mafra, Moita, Montijo, Odivelas, Oeiras, Palmela, Seixal, Sesimbra, Setúbal, Sintra and Vila Franca de Xira).
