Strong CT Students Tour River

On October 17th students from the STRONG-CT program of Three Rivers Community College, Manchester Community College, Quinebaug Community College and the University of CT shared a beautiful fall day on the RiverQuest. The RiverQuest is a modern 54', 58 passenger (plus one captain and one crew), vessel that takes the public on cruises down the lower portion of the Connecticut River. The STRONG-CT students from the colleges spent the day on the Connecticut River enjoying the bald eagles, ducks, and other water fowl and the fall foliage. It was a lovely day to learn about the Connecticut River’s history and the environmental impact of humans. Captain Mark Yuknat and his crew described the history of the river and pointed out the Bald eagles while students and faculty grabbed their binoculars to catch a glimpse of America’s favorite bird of prey!

The cruise was funded by STRONG-CT, a National Science Foundation grant.
