What are the benefits of being information competent?
Information competency allows individuals to make informed, intelligent decisions in academic, professional, and personal life.
FYE Information Competency Goals
At the end of the First Year Experience course students will:
Demonstrate efficient use of the main areas of the physical and electronic library
Effectively use Library services as: reference, instruction, interlibrary loan
Articulate the information need related to a class assignment or research project
Identify appropriate local and remote resources for retrieving and manipulating information
Construct searches by using title, author, subject, keyword search types and Boolean operators
Evaluate information by using the following criteria: authority, accuracy, and comprehensiveness
