Philosophy

Children in circle watching turtle

The following beliefs are the underlying principles of the program philosophy:

· The program believes that all children need a safe, warm, positive environment that provides unlimited and creative     opportunities for them to “grow” in all aspects of their development

· The program believes that parents’ mental, emotional and physiological well-being has a direct impact on their             relationships with their children.   Therefore a  successful program takes into consideration, and strives to reduce, the stresses  inherent in raising a family, going to school, and/or  working.

· The program believes that future Early Childhood Education professionals need a site to practice their developing skills in a realistic setting that provides strong,  positive, creative and appropriate teaching models, feedback opportunities, and a diverse group of children with which to interact and  observe.

Program Synopsis

The program is designed to allow for individual and group exploration and learning; individualized curriculum; and a  professional, dedicated and caring staff. The classroom is set up with learning centers that children explore at their own pace and in teacher designed and led activities. The daily schedule balances active and quiet play times, group and individual  learning opportunities, child initiated and teacher directed activities. Sensitivity to individual learning styles, respect for family and cultural beliefs, positive self esteem and creative expression throughout the curriculum are emphasized.
