Hello fellow
Alumni,
I have a long experience to tell you about. My name is Melisse Felter and I
graduated in 1996 with Honors. I went to work for SECAP, which now is called
"The Aliance For Living" as Administrative Assistant to the Director.I worked at
Reliance House for a year. I worked as an Administrative Assistant for a
construction company. After awhile I decided that was not what I wanted to do. I
then went to work for Community Mental Health Services of Southeastern CT as a
on call special. My responsibilities were to respond to calls from clients who
were in crisis. I would go to thier homes and talk with them and help them
process what was troubling them. I loved that job, working with a population of
with developmental difficulties. I was on call for 12 hours every day. The pay
was good but you can burn out fast that way, so I moved on and up. I then worked
for TVCCA as a case manager and housing inspector. I traveled all over New London
County inspecting houses and apartments for our clients to move into. Well after
11 months there funding was cut and so was I. But through all of positions I
gained experience and confidence in myself. I desided to go to Stonington
Institute and was hired as a Residential Counselor in their Adolescent Program. I
learned priceless information about these kids and myself.
Now I run my own Home Based Business. I am a Independent Herbalife Distributor and Executive Supervisor and train others how to build their own businesses. I love my job, my life, and my Husband James, who also graduated from Three Rivers in 1995. We have been together for 20 wonderful years and have been married for 14 fantastic years this June. So there you have it. I have been a very busy woman in the last 7 years. If you would like to visit my Website it is www.bethebossbefree.com
Sincerely,
Melisse M Felter :-)
p.s. please excuse any misspellings, some things don't change. Ha Ha!!!!!!!
Earning my associates degree from Three Rivers in 2003, I continued classes at Three Rivers and will complete my B.S. in Workforce Education and Development at Southern Illinois University at Arbondale on June 1, 2004. I have a place of distinction at SIUC because I and the first undergrad to be published in "Human Resource and Development Quarterly," June 2004 issue, of this peer journal magazine, for my article "Global Human Resource Development: The Four C Approach." I want to thank Dr. Grace Jones for maintaining the high educational standards at Three Rivers Community College and Karen Aubin for her professional instruction during my internship as a Assessment of Prior Learning instructor. I have two English professors from Three Rivers to thank for my success. Professors Salsich and Marcy for their teaching methods, high standards, and confidence the had in me. Vera earned her A.S. in 2003 and intends to pursue her B.S. in Psychology. She is employed by Maximum Communication Network and the Senior Marketing Director.

commuting distance of Tom's job with the State of CT. Laurene is self-employed,

I was in the
opening class of Three Rivers Community College, September 1970, when it was
called Mohegan Community College. I withdrew from classes in December 1971 in
order to enlist in the Army. I later completed my academics piece meal and
received an A.S. degree from “Mohegan” in the mid-‘80’s. I did go on complete a
B.G.S. & M.S. at ECSU. I would like to say to all current students and faculty
that those early participants I had the pleasure to participate with, brought a
lot to the plate. We had a large number of returning students with full lives
in motion, from homemakers, recent high school graduates, active military from
the sub base & veterans fresh from stepping off a ‘Freedom Bird” still warm in
their thoughts. I have always held the faculty up as a measure of quality for
faculty after them to include post-graduate work. I have found very few faculty
after Mohegan that have met that quality level. I hope that the current members
will realize how important & costly that foundation was set for those crossing
the threshold of learning today. Mohegan, for I find it hard to think of it
other than that way, had students who brought with them a hard earned sense of
responsibility and hearts seeking knowledge. I wish to thank those who decided
to try a new school, and make it what it is today. For the Class of ’72, I hope
you will remember such people as the Vietnam Nurse who drove “Paddy’s Wagon”,
and the history teacher, smarter than “Frank Zappa”, who embodied the best of
both fronts, & yet treated with care in the neutral zone by such staff as Joe
H.
G. Warner
Class of ’72 in spirit.
