Scholarships

     

The Deadline for scholarships has passed for the Spring of 2008.  Applications will become available January 2009.

 

Three Rivers competitive scholarships are awarded to currently enrolled students whose academic achievement and/or service at the college merit special recognition. Students are encouraged to apply for more than one scholarship if they meet the criteria. Only credits earned through traditional courses completed at TRCC are considered for eligibility. Applicants cannot factor in transfer credit, CLEP, DANTES, or credits earned through the portfolio development assessment as courses completed. Employees (except student workers or work-study students) of the college are ineligible to apply. Applications are available for download in January.

Scholarships are awarded in May.

from $200 — $1600.

Adventures in Life Long Learning

Student 30 years or older. has 30 or more credits, and has a 3.0 GPA. Student does not receive state or federal tuition assistance.

Christopher Miranda Memorial Scholarship
Student who is pursuing a Business Administration (Career or Transfer) curriculum. Recipient selected by Miranda family.

Central Connecticut State University

Student must enroll as a full time student at CCSU for the 2008-09 academic year. Applicant must have a GPA of 3.0 or greater. This monetary award must be used toward tuition or books for classes at CCSU. The applicant must demonstrate financial need.

Business Instructors of Connecticut

TRCC student must be enrolled in one of the following business programs:  Accounting, Business Administration, Business Office Technology, Hospitality or Marketing.  Student has completed 30 or more credits, 18 of which have been completed at Three Rivers.  Student holds a 3.0 GPA or higher at the completion of the fall 2007 semester. This monetary award must be used toward tuition or books for classes at TRCC.

 


Dr. Howell Aarons Tutoring Scholarship
A student T.A.S.C. tutor who holds a 3.0 GPA or higher and has been a T.A.S.C. tutor for one year (current semester counts toward eligibility).

Father Larry Ouimet Memorial Fire Technology Scholarship
Non-Traditional Student
Currently enrolled student in the Fire Technology and Administration Program, active in the New London County Fire Service and holds a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Must submit verification of ACTIVE Status from the Chief of Fire Company and entered college at least three years after high school or GED completion.

Father Larry Ouimet Memorial Fire Technology Scholarship
Traditional Student
Currently enrolled student in the Fire Technology and Administration Program, active in the New London County Fire Service and holds a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Must submit verification of ACTIVE status from the Chief of Fire Company and continued education immediately after high school.

New London Fire Chief’s Award
Currently enrolled student in the Fire Technology and Administration Program, active in the New London County Fire Service and holds a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Must submit verification of ACTIVE status from the Chief of Fire Company and returned to school at least 3 years after high school graduation. 

 

Shipman's Fire Equipment Company, INC. Award

The award will be presented annually to the graduating student in the Fire Technology and

Administration Program the award will be presented to the student that has completed 4.0 or more

credits and has the highest Grade Point Average (G.P.A).

Henry Bouley, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
Student must be enrolled in one of the college’s engineering technologies and plans to continue their studies at a four year college/university. Student must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Preference given to the student who has interest in aeronautical issues.

Groton-Ledyard Rotary Club

Applicant must either live or work in the Groton or Ledyard  are and is continuing their college education. The Groton-Ledyard Foundation of the Groton-Ledyard Rotary Club will choose the winner.

Excellence in Mathematics Scholarship
Student who has been at Three Rivers for four semesters and has nine transferable math credits with an average of 3.75, an overall cumulative average of 3.5 and will continue his/her education.
 

Phi Theta Kappa

Applicant must be currently enrolled Phi Theta Kappa inductee with “enhanced” membership status in the Alpha Mu Gamma chapter. Must have completed 24 credits or more at Three Rivers and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher at the end of the Fall 06 semester.


Rachel Etchells Memorial Scholarship

Student with a GPA or 3.0 higher and is a single mother with one or more children living at home. Sponsored by the Three Rivers Alumni Association.

Ralph & Lillian Pelliccio Memorial Scholarship

Member of the current graduating class who has demonstrated excellence in either accounting or business administration and will be transferring to a four year college on a full-time basis in the business or accounting field.

Ric Simmons Memorial Scholarship

Male student in one of the engineering technologies, completed at least one semester and started Three Rivers at least 10 years after high school.

Roberta M. Helming Challenges

Student has completed 24 or more credits at Three Rivers Community College, holds a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and has a documented disability which was provided to a Disability Counselor/Advisor prior to applying for the scholarship.

 

Rose Rubin Memorial Scholarship
Student 55 years or older seeking to further his/her education either through taking the Assessment of Prior Learning Program (APL) or through taking classes at Three Rivers. 

 

Sierra Giorgi Memorial

Applicant must be a single mother, under the age of 30 years and has earned 18 or more credits at TRCC and has a GPA of 3.6 or higher. Applicant must be in the General Studies/Pre-Nursing Program.

 
Silven Stallard Memorial Scholarship

Female student in one of the engineering technologies and has completed at least one semester at Three Rivers.

Southeastern CT Women’s Network Scholarship
Female student continuing her course work at Three Rivers and has completed a minimum of 40 credits.

Student Government Honor Scholarship
Student with a 3.8 GPA or higher and has completed 20 or more credits at Three Rivers. 

Student Government Outstanding School Involvement Scholarship
Student with a GPA of 2.3 or higher, completed 20 or more credits at Three Rivers and is an active member in a Three Rivers’ student organization during the current academic year.

Three Rivers Academic Scholarship
Student who has completed 15 or more credits at Three Rivers and has a 3.0 or higher.

Children of Three Rivers Alumni Scholarship
Applicant whose mother, father or legal guardian is an alumnus of the college. Applicant is selected by the Board of Directors of the Three Rivers Alumni Association.

Three Rivers Alumni First Year Scholarship
First or second semester student who shows characteristics of maturity and clearly indicates that educational experience is necessary for advancement. Applicant does not receive state or federal tuition assistance.

Three Rivers Foundation-Freshman Scholarship
Student who has completed 15-30 credits at Three Rivers. Award must be used at Three Rivers.

Three Rivers Foundation-Sophomore Scholarship

Student who has completed 31-45 credits at Three Rivers. Award must be used at Three Rivers.

Three Rivers Foundation-William DeHomer Waller Scholarship
An African-American, Hispanic, American Indian, or Asian/Pacific Islander student who has completed 15-30 credits at Three Rivers. Award must be used at Three Rivers.

Three Rivers Foundation-Dr. Wayne Silver Scholarship
Student who started Three Rivers at least 10 years after high school or GED completion and has completed 15-30 Three Rivers credits. Award must be used at Three Rivers.
