ANTHROPOLOGY

Anthropology is the study of humankind - of ancient and modern people and their ways of living.

Different branches of anthropology focus on different aspects of the human experience. Some focus on how our species evolved from earlier species (human evolution or physical anthropology).

Others focus on how ancient cultures evolved and diversified (archaeology).Still others focus on language and culture, and how human similarities and differences are expressed among the world's peoples today (cultural anthropology). In sum, anthropology aims to describe, in the broadest possible sense, what it means to be human.

As the world becomes smaller people from different continents, who speak different languages and who possess different values and religions, find themselves living together in the same "global village."To all the members of this new human community, anthropology extends a unique invitation to explore the roots of our common humanity as well as the sources of our distinct ways of living.
