theoretical and experiential exploration and understanding of the
self-encountering the self and the self-encountering the other. The course
is designed to facilitate students’ progress beyond “ insight” to
initiating constructive change where so desired. Topics include: the
healthy personality, the body, emotion, self-disclosure, social roles, love,
work, play, religion and self, communication patterns, families and healthy
personality, and loss and death.

course is designed to expose the student to a wide range of concepts and
problems in the field of psychology as a behavioral science. Emphasis is
placed on the following areas and topics: the science of psychology,
biological psychology, perception, learning theory and memory, emotion and
motivation, thought and language, and workplace psychology.

emphasis is placed on the applied and social aspects of psychology. Topics
will include: brief treatment of research methodology and the biological bases

course offers an introduction to psychopathology and psychotherapy. A
study of emotional disturbance includes: neuroses and personality disorders,
psychoses, psychodiagnosis, and psychotherapy with an emphasis on how disorders
begin and various treatments that are used. Topics in the course are: the
nature of neurosis, anxiety reactions, obsessive-compulsive reactions,
depressive reactions, hysteria and psycho-physiological reactions, personality
disturbance, sexual deviance, addictions, theories of psychosis, forms of
psychosis, somatic therapies, psychoanalytic therapies, behavior therapy,
client-centered therapy, and group therapies.
