K075 Prealgebra
(formerly Math K078 Basic Math Skills)
3 credit hours. This course is a DEVELOPMENTAL course, which means it
is for developing math skills that prepare you to take college level
math courses. Students in developmental math courses receive grades
with a 0 in front of the letter grade to indicate the credits are not
for graduation credit, nor is the course included in the student’s
GPA (Grade Point Average).
Students doing work below the C- level in a developmental course will
receive “NC” for “no credit” or “MP”
for making progress. (No F’s or D’s are awarded.) Students
receiving grades 0C- or below are advised to repeat the course. When
a student repeats a course at TRCC, the higher grade is the one that
counts in the GPA. A student must speak with a Three Rivers Counselor
before attempting any course for the third time.
After completing Math 075 with a C or better, students may take Math
095 Elementary Algebra Foundations
If you are having difficulty in Math 075, consider joining a series
of free math workshops offer by Marie Peloquin, director of TASC. You
may find her in her office in the Mohegan library. Ms. Peloquin’s
specialty is math-anxious students. You are welcome to join attend her
workshops the semester before you enroll in Math 075 or while you are
currently enrolled. The hours and dates of Ms Peloquin’s workshops
are posted under the MATH NEWS link on this math department’s
home page. Prerequisite: Acceptable placement score
