Three Rivers Community College offers a comprehensive array of programs of study as listed and described here.  The specific curricular patterns in the associate degree programs lead either to the degree of Associate in Arts (AA), the degree of Associate in Science (AS), or the degree of Associate in Applied Science (AAS).  Career and transfer programs are available for many associate degree programs.  Certificates are also awarded in certain programs.

This program is designed for people who intend to seek employment following graduation as junior  accountants or accounting clerks.  The accounting field is among the fastest growing occupations in Southeastern Connecticut.  This career program prepares students for accounting positions in business and industry, government, and public accounting firms upon completion of the 63-64 credit curriculum.

Computer Literacy Requirement:  All degree seeking students must complete a basic computer literacy requirement prior to graduation.

Accounting Career, Associate in Science Degree Program Outcomes
Upon successful completion of all program requirements, graduates will be able to:
1. demonstrate the use of generally accepted accounting principles, concepts, and techniques in the recording and reporting of financial statements.
2. analyze accounting information for decision making including the areas of job cost, process cost, absorption and variable costing approaches, and relevant costs.
3. explain the concepts and constructs of accounting and evaluate and analyze accounting information.
4. describe and discuss the qualitative characteristics of accounting information.
5. discuss the role ethics plays in the accounting profession.
6. apply critical thinking skills acquired from the Liberal Arts and Sciences requirements of the program.
7. use accounting software and spreadsheets.
8. obtain successful employment in the accounting field.

Accounting Transfer Associate in Science

Accounting is concerned with the preparation and maintenance of adequate, informative, and accurate systems of financial records for all kinds of public and private organizations and is among the fastest growing occupations in Southeastern Connecticut.  This program is designed primarily for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college.  Students are urged to investigate and select the institution to which they will transfer as early as possible since each transfer situation must be planned to meet specific baccalaureate requirements.  A minimum of 63 credits is required for graduation.
