How do I receive a Nursing Program Information Packet?
Since September 2004, students have had the opportunity to obtain Nursing Information Packets online. To obtain an information packet, please click here. .

How and when can I apply?
Students can pick up a Nursing Program Application packet from the Admissions office, or contact Admissions via telephone (860) 892-5702 or email nursingadmissions@trcc.commnet.edu. All packets are available after November 1st.

How many students apply and how many are admitted?
Usually there are more eligible applicants than space available. There is no way to know how many applicants will apply in any given year. In the recent past, there have been upwards of a hundred eligible applicants and over seventy admitted into program.

Are there scholarships and financial aid available?
The financial aid office helps students by offering grants, loans and work-study employment to those with demonstrated financial need. Please contact the financial aid office at (860) 823-2870 for further information. Financial support for nursing students is also available through many community benefactors; call the Director of Nursing and Allied Health at (860) 383-5241 for further information.

Is there a waiting list?
Each year, after the new nursing class is admitted, the list of qualified students is dissolved, and the process begins anew the next November. Therefore, technically, we do not carry names over on a “waiting list.” A new application is filed whenever a student applies to the nursing program.

What is the difference between an ADN and a BSN?
The ADN, or Associate Degree in Nursing, is a two-year degree. The BSN, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing, is a four-year degree. Recipients of either degree may take the Board exam to become a Registered Nurse (RN).

Do you have a part-time ADN program?
Currently all nursing classes run on a daytime schedule with occasional evening clinical rotations. Although clinical nursing courses are 8 or 9 credits each for all intents and purposes, the workload is considered full-time.

Are there any prerequisites?
The Admissions page can help you answer this question. The application process describes the requirements.

When does the Nursing Program begin?
The sequence of courses for the Nursing program begins in the Fall semester.
