Mission of the Institutional Research Office

The mission of Institutional Research at Three Rivers Community College is to provide quality information and analysis services in a timely manner to advance a culture of inquiry and continuous improvement. Institutional Research actively supports college wide planning, decision-making, accreditation, and assessment activities, while also coordinating the submission of required reports to external agencies and organizations concerning students and employees.

Goal of the Institutional Research Office

To achieve its mission, the Office of Intuitional Research has established the following goals:

  • Produce accurate, concise, and timely information to support effective institutional planning and decision-making.
  • Facilitate the College’s participation in national benchmarking surveys involving students, faculty, and staff.
  • Increase the College community’s efficiency and effectiveness in retrieving and utilizing institutional information for decision making.
  • Provide technical direction and expertise in such matters as instrument selection and design, cohort selection, and specification of standards in the area of student learning outcomes assessment.

Function of the Institutional Research Office

The Institutional Office completes/coordinates the completion of the Integrated Post-Secondary Education Data System (IPEDS) Surveys, State of Connecticut DHE reports, Administers and analyzes results for student surveys such as the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) and the Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE), Compiles the College’s Common Data Set, Publishes a Fall and Spring semester fact book, and provides data for ad hoc data requests from administrators, faculty, staff, students and community stakeholders.
