Three Rivers provides support for writing assignments in most of the courses at the college. The Tutoring Programs employ academically successful students to help their peers develop effective writing and communication skills. Assistance is available for essay development, basic skills review, essay test preparation, and specific help related to research topics and strategies.

In addition to the Writing Center in Shop Wing on the NTHS (Mohegan) Campus, writing services are available at the TASC, next door to the Writing Center.
  • The Writing Center offers walk-in help, scheduled tutoring sessions, and online submission of papers for help with papers for any subject. For more information, go to the Writing Center home page.
  • TASC writing tutors are available at various times throughout the week. The schedule for tutors is posted during the first two weeks of classes each semester. The TASC also provides Academic Success Workshops that cover topics such as Time Management, Note Taking, Test Taking, Textbook Reading, Learning Styles. The TASC provides an ASK TASC service, online assistance for your academic questions and writing assignments. A TASC tutor will respond to your query within 24 hours.
  • Free online writing assistance is also available through a group of Connecticut colleges, the Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium. To register for this service go to the online tutoring page, or contact the Thames Valley TASC office (885-2311) for more information or email Matt Burbine.
  • Also, for those quick grammar questions you may have, Humanities Department faculty have set up the new Grammar Hot Line.
