CRLA Tutor Certification

The Three Rivers TASC Tutoring Certification Program provides professional recognition of a tutor's training and abilities. The certification is granted by the CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) and is very useful for students who may wish to continue tutoring at another institution or are interested in private tutoring.  It provides a credential which many students include on their resumes and college applications.

TO RECEIVE THE CRLA LEVEL ONE/REGULAR TUTORING CERTIFICATION, REVIEW THE REQUIREMENTS AND CONTACT Marie Peloquin.

THE INITIAL TUTOR TRAINING MODULE WILL COUNT TOWARD THE TOTAL NUMBER OF TRAINING HOURS REQUIRED FOR THE CERTIFICATION.

College Reading and Learning Association

CRLA (formerly WCRLA) is a group of student-oriented professionals active in the fields of reading, learning assistance, developmental education, and tutorial services at the college/adult level. Inherently diverse in membership, CRLA's most vital function and overall purpose is to provide a forum for the interchange of ideas, methods, and information to improve student learning and to facilitate the professional growth of its members.

History

Since March 1989, over 300 college and university tutorial programs in the United States and Canada have received tutor training certification through CRLA's International Tutor Certification Program (ITCP).

Purpose

The purpose of this program is twofold. First, it provides recognition and positive reinforcement for tutors' successful work from an international organization, CRLA. Second, its certification process sets a standard of skills and training for tutors.
