TEST OF ESSENTIAL ACADEMIC SKILLS (TEAS®)

The TEAS test was developed to measure basic essential skills in the academic content area domains of Reading, Mathematics, Science, and English and Language Usage. These entry level skills were deemed most appropriate for nursing program applicants by a panel of nursing educators. A passing TEAS score is a requirement for admission into our Nursing Program.

Where do I register for the TEAS test?

In order to view available test dates and register for the TEAS test you must create an account at www.atitesting.com.

* Please continue to check the ATI website frequently for new TEAS dates. We will add dates as our sessions fill up. All registrations for TEAS must be done through the ATI website.

ACCOMMODATIONS: If you are requesting testing accommodations for the TEAS test, appropriate documentation  should be submitted to the Disability Services Provider in Student Services at least 4-weeks prior to testing.

When can I take the TEAS at TRCC?

All TEAS tests must be taken and received by 2/1/2015 with a minimum 53.3% score to be eligible for the upcoming 2015/2016 admission cycle.

Please check local listings for cancellations and delays due to inclement weather. If TRCC is closed your TEAS test date will be rescheduled. If TRCC is open your test will occur as scheduled. If you do not attend your test date, you must contact ATI to purchase another.

PLEASE NOTE: It may take 1-2 business days for the test to appear on the ATI website. It will say SOLD OUT if it is full. If you do not see the date that fits your schedule, please check back for availability.

Seating is limited to 20 testers. You must register for this test at least 2 days (48 hours) prior to the test date. All future dates will be posted here and on the ATI website as soon as they are available.

What is the test format?

It is a computerized self-paced test limited to 209 minutes. Four-option multiple-choice test that includes 170 scored multiple-choice questions divided into:

READING (58 minutes with 48 questions)

  • paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension, and inferences/conclusions

MATH (51 minutes with 34 questions)

  • whole numbers, metric conversion, fractions, decimals, algebraic equations, percentages, and ratio/proportion

SCIENCE (66 minutes with 54 questions)

  • science reasoning, science knowledge, biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, basic physical principles, and general science

ENGLISH and LANGUAGE USAGE (34 minutes with 34 questions)

  • punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words, and spelling

What version of the test is acceptable?

We will accept TEAS® test version V (5.0). Previous versions of the TEAS will no longer be administered at CT-CCNP test sites. For the 2012-2013 cycle & beyond, only TEAS V (5.0) scores will be accepted for admission into the CT-CCNP.

What is the cost of the test?

The cost to take the TEAS® varies according to school. The TRCC price is $35. Payments are made directly to ATI via their website. Debit and credit cards are the only form of payment accepted.

PLEASE NOTE: TRCC does not charge any additional payment for this test.

Where can I take the TEAS?

You can take the TEAS test anywhere it is offered as long as it is version V (5.0) and you have your scores sent directly to your school of first choice.

All students must include their full Connecticut Community College I.D. number starting with the @ symbol in order to receive test scores (e.g. @01234567).

What is considered passing?

A cumulative score of 53.3% is considered passing for admission into the CT-CCNP’s nursing program. A passing TEAS score does not guarantee admission. Test scores are valid for three years. Older versions will not be accepted.

How many times can I take the TEAS?

You can take the TEAS V as many times as you like. You must pay for each test and have your scores sent to your school of first choice. We will only consider your highest score.

What you need the day of the test?

PHOTO ID: You MUST show a PHOTO ID or you will NOT be allowed to test.
