Scholarships

The Three Rivers scholarship program awards both merit and need-based scholarships. Students may earn a scholarship based on financial status, academic excellence, outstanding merit, service to the College and community, or a combination of these factors. Scholarship awards range from $300 to more than $1,200.

Scholarships for High School Students

The Reverend David L. Cannon Arts & Science Scholarship - FULL Scholarship 
Applicants must place in the top 40% of their class. This award is based on merit and evidence of need and provides full tuition and fees (excluding books). It is renewed annually provided the student maintains a 3.25 GPA and enrolls full-time at Three Rivers in one of the 11 liberal arts and sciences degree programs. Available for the second year based on performance. Deposited into the student’s TRCC account. Contact the Office of Institutional Advancement (C211) for application.

TRC Foundation Engineering/Technology Scholarship - FULL Scholarship
Applicants must place in the top 40 percent of their class. Based on merit and evidence of need and provides full tuition and fees (excluding books). Renewed annually provided the student maintains a 3.25 GPA and enrolls full-time at Three Rivers in one of 14 engineering and technology degree programs. Available for the second year based on performance. Deposited into the student’s TRCC account.

Engineering Technology Scholarships- Dominion Nuclear Connecticut
Millstone Power Station Scholarship
- FULL Scholarship
Dominion Nuclear Connecticut supports promising candidates for the Nuclear Engineering Technology program at Three Rivers Community College with up to sixteen two-year scholarship awards. Deadline is February 15.

LIGHT Scholarship
Open to applicants (high school or non-traditional student) enrolling in the Laser and Fiber Optic Technology (LFOT) associate degree program in the Fall 2011 semester. Offered through the New England Board of Higher Education PHOTON Education Fund. For an application go to  www.lasertechonline.orgApplications due April 2.

Scholarships for New and Currently Enrolled Students

Norwich Public Utilities - FULL Scholarship
Based on merit (3.0 high school GPA) and evidence of need. Provides full tuition for an entering or continuing full-time Three Rivers student. Renewed each semester for up to two years provided the student maintains a 2.7 GPA. Student must be an Engineering or Business major with interest in economic development or energy efficiency.  Preference will be given to a qualified student who, as a Norwich resident, has made contributions to the community of Norwich, either through volunteer work or through extracurricular activities at his or her high school. Award is deposited into the student's TRCC account.

 

Scholarships for Currently Enrolled Students

Adventures in Life Long Learning
Awarded to a student who is 30 years or older, has earned 30 or more credits at TRCC, and has a 3.0 or higher GPA. Student does not receive state or federal tuition assistance.

AHEPA History Award 
Awarded to a student enrolled at TRCC for the 2012-2013 academic year with a minimum 3.3 GPA and two of the following classes: World Civ I, World Civ II, World Regional Geography, War & Society in World Civilizations, 20th Century Europe, Intro to Philosophy, Ethics, Architecture of the World, World Religions, or Art History I. Deposited into the student’s TRCC account.

Christopher Miranda Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a student who is pursuing a Business Administration (Career or Transfer) curriculum. Recipient selected by Miranda family.

Dr. Howell Aarons Tutoring Scholarship
Awarded to a student T.A.S.C. tutor who holds a 3.0 GPA or higher and has been a T.A.S.C. tutor for one year (current semester counts toward eligibility). Sponsored by the TRCC Alumni Association.

Excellence in Mathematics Scholarship
Awarded to a student who has been at Three Rivers for four semesters and has nine transferable math credits with an average of 3.75, an overall cumulative average of 3.5 and will continue his/her education.

Father Larry Ouimet Memorial Fire Technology Scholarship
Awarded to a student currently enrolled in the Fire Technology and Administration Program, active in the New London County Fire Service and holds a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Must submit verification of ACTIVE Status from the Chief of Fire Company. Two award categories: Non-traditional Student (must have entered college at least three years after high school or GED completion) and Traditional Student (must have continued education immediately after high school).

Groton Rotary Club
Applicant must live or work in the Groton or Ledyard area and be continuing their college education. The Groton-Ledyard Foundation of the Groton-Ledyard Rotary Club will choose the winner.

Henry Bouley Jr. Memorial Scholarship
Student must be enrolled in one of the College’s engineering technologies and plans to continue his/her studies at a four year college/university. Student must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Preference given to the student who has interest in aeronautical issues.

John and Mary LaMattina Endowed Scholarship Fund - FULL Scholarship
Covers full tuition and fees. It will be presented to a TRCC Humanities student. Criteria for consideration:  Likelihood to persist despite personal challenges; demonstrated exceptional support for peers and/or College; financial need; and overall performance in work of the course.  Faculty recommendation and a written statement by applicant necessary. Deposited into the student’s TRCC account.

Marie Peloquin Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a student who is currently or has been a tutor at Three Rivers and is pursuing the Nursing Program at TRCC.

Matthew P. Hightower Memorial Award
Presented to the student with a GPA of 3.7 or greater, with at least 20 credits taken at TRCC, whose focus is in the area of public accounting with a desire to become a certified public accountant. The student must demonstrate the ability to juggle many tasks; personally and academically.  Preference will be given to a nontraditional student.

New London Fire Chief's Award
Awarded to a student currently enrolled in the Fire Technology and Administration Program, active in the New London County Fire Service and holds a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Must submit verification of ACTIVE status from the Chief of Fire Company and returned to school at least three years after high school graduation.

Ralph & Lillian Pelliccio Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a member of the current graduating class who has demonstrated excellence in either accounting or business administration and will be transferring to a four year college on a full-time basis in the business or accounting field.

Roberta M. Helming Challenges Scholarship
Awarded to a student who has completed 24 or more credits at Three Rivers, holds a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and has a documented disability which was provided to a Disability Counselor/Advisor prior to applying for the scholarship.

Rose Rubin Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a student age 55 years or older seeking to further his/her education either through taking the Assessment of Prior Learning Program (APL) or through taking classes at TRCC.

Sierre Giorgi Memorial Scholarship
Applicant must be a single mother, under the age of 30 years and has earned 18 or more credits at TRCC and has a GPA of 3.6 or higher. Applicant must be in the General Studies/Pre-Nursing Program.   This award is sponsored by the Student Government Association.

Southeastern CT Women's Network Scholarship
Awarded to a female student who has completed a minimum of 30 credits at Three Rivers, has a 3.0 GPA or higher and is continuing her course work at TRCC.

Student Government Honor Scholarship
Awarded to a student with a 3.8 GPA or higher and has completed 20 or more credits at Three Rivers.

Student Government Outstanding School Involvement Scholarship
Awarded to a student with a GPA of 2.3 or higher, completed 20 or more credits at Three Rivers and is an active member in a Three Rivers’ student organization during the current academic year.

Three Rivers Academic Scholarship
Awarded to a student who has completed 15 or more Three Rivers credits and has a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Children of Three Rivers Alumni Scholarship
Awarded to an applicant whose parents, grandparents or legal guardian is an alumnus of the college. Applicant is selected by the Board of Directors of the Three Rivers Alumni Association.

Three Rivers Alumni First Year Scholarship
Applicant must be a first year student who started Three Rivers in the 2010 spring, summer or fall semester.  Must show characteristics of maturity and clearly indicate that education is necessary for advancement.  Applicant does not receive state or federal tuition assistance.

 

Scholarships for Currently Enrolled Students Offered Through the TRC Foundation

The Three Rivers College Foundation is a nonprofit organization designed to promote and assist Three River. The Foundation organizes several events, the proceeds of which benefit Three Rivers students in the way of scholarships, and the educational community at large. Three Rivers College Foundation - Freshman Scholarship
Applicant must have completed between 15-30 Three Rivers credits. Deposited into the student's TRCC account.

Three Rivers College Foundation - Sophomore Scholarship
Applicant must have completed 31-45 credits at Three Rivers. Deposited into the student's TRCC account.

Three Rivers College Foundation - The LaMattina Foundation Scholarship
Presented to a returning student who is at least 25 years old, enrolled full-time in a TRCC Liberal Arts & Sciences or Business program.  A GPA of 2.7 must be maintained.  This scholarship provides full tuition and fees. Deposited into the student's TRCC account.

Three Rivers College Foundation - The Liberty Bank Community Service Scholarship
Applicant must show evidence of need as well as active involvement in the community. Deposited into the student's TRCC account.

Three Rivers College Foundation - William DeHomer Waller Scholarship
Applicant must be from an ethnic minority and has completed 15-30 Three Rivers credits. Deposited into the student's TRCC account.

Three Rivers College Foundation - Dr. Wayne Silver Scholarship
Applicant must have entered Three Rivers at least 10 years after high school or GED completion and has completed 15-30 Three Rivers credits. Deposited into the student's TRCC account.
