Access Health CT

A representative from Access Health CT will be on-campus to assist students, staff and faculty and their families in getting information about and/or accessing and enrolling in the new mandated health care insurance plans. This is a great opportunity to understand the requirements, navigate the web site and actually enroll in a plan. Access Health CT is the CT marketplace for the Affordable Care Act coverage.

Wellness Week Event Sept 9-15

Sept 9: the Wellness Picnic 11-1, food, information tables, activities, boot camp, mediation, raffles, etc.

Sept 13: Monsters U Movie 7:30pm on the Green

Sept 14 & 15: Ride for TRCC Students-2 days 25 mile bike ride each day to raise funds for the Student Emergency Fund

Wellness week is a healthy campus initiative, funded by the Garrett Lee Smith Campus Suicide Prevention Grant. It is focused on providing holistic wellness activities and events to the campus and community. Monday is the Wellness Picnic from 11am-1pm on the Cafeteria Green, with vendors, free healthy lunch, meditation, boot camp class, information tables, and a variety of healthy activities.

Tuesday, 9/10 is World Depression Screening Day and information tables and screening tools will be available, as well as counselors throughout the day.

Wednesday is Scoop, an ice cream social held in the Cafeteria from 12-1pm, which allows students to connect with campus clubs in order to strengthen social ties and student engagement.

Thursday is our second annual Farmer’s Market, which encourages eating whole, locally produced food, promotes student engagement, and sup[ports our local farms and businesses. A DJ will “amplify” the event.

Friday, September 13th is free movie on the Cafeteria Green “Monsters’ U at 7:30 pm. This too focuses on campus and community engagement and fosters social connectivity as it is a wonderful, family  and budget-friendly activity.

Saturday 10/5 is the Ride for TRCC Students. It is a 25 mile ride leaving TRCC on Saturday morning at 10 am. Every rider raises $100 to go towards the TRCC Student Emergency Fund, which assists students experiencing financial challenges that impede their ability to complete their college coursework.

Tea and Talk is another holistic wellness  initiative focused on bringing students, faculty, and staff together for an enjoyable hour of tea, refreshments, and conviviality. During the academic year, the teas are hosted by the Student Programs Office on the third Thursday of each month at 2:30 pm in the student conference room, F205.

Come learn about Haitian health and recovery efforts. The lecture will be led by Dr. Jeremiah Lowney, a Connecticut orthodontist who is founder and president of the Haitian Health Foundation, and Dr. Anthony Alessi, chief executive officer and chairman of Colonial Cooperative Care, Inc.
