Prague supports college on turnpike

To the Editor of The Day: I want to make it clear to those residents and your readers that the decision
to go ahead with the Mahan Drive consolidation plan was made by Gov. John G.
Rowland. I have been on record in support of the New London Turnpike alternative
for some time now.
In fact, the college Board of Trustees itself voted in favor of the New
London Turnpike plan and the state Department of Public Works has already drawn
plans with an access road to the site from Route 32 to mitigate congestion on
New London Turnpike.
With all this in mind, any and all issues about consolidation of the Three
Rivers campus on Mahan Drive should be addressed to Gov. Rowland's office. It is
absolutely critical to voice your opinion.
As always, I am eager to hear from my constituents as well about this or any
other issue at 1-800-842-1420. Edith G. Prague The writer is state senator for the 19th District.
I participated in a hearing on July 16 at
Three Rivers Community College at which many residents in the vicinity of the
college voiced vehement opposition to the prospect of a consolidated Three
Rivers Community College campus in their neighborhood. They cited concerns about
traffic congestion, the impact on the local water table, and despair about
overall neighborhood degradation to the state and local officials in attendance.
