After reading articles in the Norwich Bulletin professing how great the relocation of Three Rivers Community College to downtown will be for everyone, as a Three Rivers student I am compelled to tell local politicians, business owners and commercial interests, as well as my fellow students, that this is a horrible idea.
Parking, congestion, noise and the smell of sewage from the nearby treatment facility will make this a nightmare for teachers and students. During summer months the smell from the sewage treatment facility is overpowering.
Traffic is a problem downtown without the college; hundreds of cars will only make is worse. Business owners and politicians in favor of the downtown locations see students, teachers, and taxpayers as a meal ticket. They are eager to use millions of tax dollars to fix up downtown and generate revenue by way of ripping us all off. I am attending Three Rivers to learn. Find another meal ticket!
