Former hospital best site for college

Editor:

I for one support the City Council's resolution on Three Rivers Community College.  I also agree the college needs to move forward with consolidation,  I have spent the time to read the report on consolidation from beginning to end.

I have driven by the former Norwich Hospital sitting vacant and falling into disrepair, and I feel the hospital is the only logical site.  This site would allow for endless expansion, and the students and faculty would not have to endure noise and the mess that goes along with construction.  This site also has the best access to routes 12 and 32, and I-395.

Using the former hospital site would also free up the Mahan Drive site so the state could move Norwich Tech there.  As for those who think we would be losing $200,000 with the loss of the college, you are mistaken.

We get this money because the Mahan Drive site is state property and with or without a college it will remain state property.  So, people of Norwich, students, and faculty of Three Rivers: Tell Gov. John G. Rowland what to do!

Put the college where it makes sense.
