Here's what to do with Three Rivers
Editor:

There is a difference between need and want; the secret is in knowing the difference. There are many needs in southeastern Connecticut.

One is the need for more classroom space for Three Rivers Community College. Downtown Norwich has many vacant buildings; they could be renovated into classrooms. There is no need for a downtown campus; call all of Norwich one campus and just move courses to downtown.

Now the problem becomes moving students to classrooms. Bus transportation is the answer. Students going for degrees ride to classes free; students just taking classes and senior citizens could purchase daily, weekly or monthly passes. All others pay fares.

The state subsidizes SEAT, so it does not lose money on the routes. The state saves by not having to build a new campus. Southeastern Connecticut has mass transportation, and economic development evolves in downtown Norwich.
