Don't give up yet on Aliano's proposal

Gov. John Rowland's decision to consolidate Three Rivers Community College at Mahan Drive hurts downtown Norwich and the project so carefully implemented by developer and business leader Ronald Aliano.

I encourage our state and local leaders and members of the community to come out and support Aliano's continuing quest to spur economic growth downtown. The reality of his proposal would pave the way to revitalization of our city.

Its very essence would bring much needed activity to Norwich and allow us to market our city in hopes of attracting other investors and families here. This college would be a magnet that would not only draw people to the many assets of our community, but would create a new beginning for the city's future as a whole. Think of all the new businesses that would relocate to downtown and offer students a more productive and social environment at the same time.

Mahan Drive is not a done deal! Support moving the college to downtown. Say yes to progress and growth. Say yes to more economic development and revitalization. Let's use this opportunity to nurture our city. Please show your support and call to find out how you can help your community, your city, Norwich.
