You may obtain the Three Rivers' Application for Admission or Readmission by downloading and printing an Application Form, or by applying online using Apply Online, or by contacting the Admissions Office at (860)383-5260.  If you are a high school student, you may wish to see your guidance counselor.

STEP 1   APPLY FOR ADMISSION

All students desiring to enroll in classes at Three Rivers Community College must complete an application for admission.

Apply Online Now You will need a credit card to complete an online application.  Former students or applicants of any Connecticut Community College do not need to pay the $20 application fee.

STEP 2   SUBMIT SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION

Three Rivers can begin the admission process as soon as you complete STEP 1, however, the following documents are required for registration.

  Submit a copy of your high school diploma, high school transcript with graduation date, or GED certificate.  You must provide us with proof of high school completion if you want to enroll in a degree-seeking program.

   Submit evidence of immunization against Measles and Rubella.  Connecticut State Law requires that all students born after December 31, 1956, and enrolled in post-secondary school must provide proof of immunization before registration.  Students who graduated from a Connecticut High School after 1998 are exempt from providing proof of immunization is s/he provides proof of high school graduation by either diploma or high school transcript with the graduation date on it.  All degree-seeking and full-time students must comply with this law in order to be eligible to register for classes.

NOTE:  Three Rivers recommend that you provide us with these documents at the time of application but we can begin the admission process if these items are still pending.  However all documentation must be received before you will be permitted to register (see STEP 5).

STEP 3  Request Financial Aid

Optional: Students requesting financial aid must first register for an Education PIN number. This PIN serves as your electronic signature so that you can complete the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using the Three Rivers Community College school code “009765”. You may complete both of these steps at www.FAFSA.ed.gov. Seven days after completing this process, contact the Three Rivers Financial Aid department at (860) 823-2870 or log onto www.online.commnet.edu to find out your eligibility status.

STEP 4 TAKE THE PLACEMENT TEST

Once we process your application, you will receive a letter of acceptance and instructions on how to schedule your computerized placement test. All students are required to complete computerized placement tests designed to gain information about the student’s readiness for college-level course work. Students with an associate degree or higher and other transfer students who have earned college-level math and English credits may be waived from the placement test when they provide unofficial transcripts of prior college coursework.

 STEP 5 REGISTER FOR CLASSES

 After placement testing, it is time to register for classes! Make an appointment with the Student Development Office or walk-in to the admissions office to review your placement test scores with an academic advisor and select your courses for your first semester at Three Rivers Community College. Students with previous college work will want to bring copies of their unofficial transcripts in order to facilitate the registration process. Transfer students should send official prior college transcripts to the registrar's office if desiring a formal transfer evaluation.

International/Foreign Student (F1 Visa)

Applicants for a student visa (F1 status) must complete the following procedures at least three months in advance of the semester in which they wish to enroll.

The following documents must be submitted to the Admissions office to the attention of the Admissions counselor:

  • Complete an Application Form and include the $20.00 Application Fee (Do not send cash)



  • Attach translated copies of a transcript or diploma that certifies high school completion.  A statement of educational equivalency by an authorized official or service may be necessary.



  • Submit Measles and Rubella Immunization Records (If you were born after 1956 and did not graduate from a Connecticut high school after 1998). [Two doses of Measles and one Rubella].

  • Titer test indicating immunity will be accepted in lieu of immunizations.

  • Provide proof of financial sponsorship or proof of your ability to cover educational and living expenses in U.S. currency. Copies of bank statements which certify that sufficient funds are available to cover tuition, fees, and books must also be submitted.

  • A placement test is required of all new students. You will receive instructions on how to schedule your test with your acceptance letter.  You must apply to Three Rivers before you take this test.  

     

Please Note:  

  • Three Rivers Community College does not have dormitories available for students. Students are responsible for making their own housing arrangements.

  • International students on student visas do not qualify for federal or state financial aid, and must pay the out-of-state tuition and fee rate.

  • International students on student visas are required to enroll in a full-time program of study each semester.

  • Three Rivers does not provide intensive English as a second language instruction. All international students must have sufficient proficiency in English.

  • Three Rivers is authorized under Federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students holding appropriate visas.

BRINGING A SPOUSE OR DEPENDENT CHILDREN
(Required Financial Support)
               
This office requires evidence of at least $3,500 for the support of your spouse and at least $2,000
for each dependent child per year in order to issue the visa eligibility form to your spouse. 

NOTE:  You must provide for two years, proof of ability to assume this financial responsibility.  A bank statement will be required reflecting that the total amount is deposited in a United States bank.
