TRCC Testing Center

Placement Test (ACCUPLACER®)

·     All new first-time students are required to complete an assessment of basic skills in mathematics, reading, and writing.

·     These untimed computerized Accuplacer placement tests are designed to help students gain information about their readiness for college-level course work.

·     With the assistance of an academic advisor, students are able to use this information to make decisions about course selections and long-term educational plans.

_ Waiver of Placement Testing

·     Students with a score of 450 or higher on the SAT Critical Reading or Writing are waived from English placement testing. Students with a score of 550 or higher on the SAT Math are waived from Math placement testing. Please submit a copy of your SAT score report to the Admissions Office to document your waiver.

·     Generally, students with an associate degree or higher and other transfer students who have earned college-level credits in English and math with a "C" grade or higher are waived from the Computerized Placement test when they provide unofficial transcripts of prior college coursework or a copy of their college degree.

Testing for Students with Documented Accommodations      

·     Students with documented accommodations and their instructors may decide to use the TRCC testing center.

o    The Testing Center provides students and faculty with a quiet testing environment.

·     Students must call 885-2318 to make an appointment.

·     Please contact student development if you have questions about accommodations.

Make-up Exams

·     The Center provides a free make-up exam service for TRCC students in both traditional and online courses.

·     The decision to allow make-up exams is at the discretion of the instructor.

·     Students must call 885-2318 to make an appointment.

Credit by Exam

·       CLEP (College-Level Examination Program)

o    Earn college-level credits for life experience.

·       DSST  (Subject Standardized Tests)

o    Earn college-level credits for previously learned knowledge.

TEAS Test

·     The TEAS test was developed to measure basic essential skills in the academic content area domains of Reading, Mathematics, Science, and English and Language Usage. These entry level skills were deemed important for nursing program applicants by a panel of nursing program curriculum experts. The TEAS test is a requirement for admission into the Nursing Program.

Additional Test Center Arrangements

·     The TRCC Testing Center also serves as a testing center for students taking distance learning (online) courses at other schools.

·     The TRCC Testing Center may also meet the requirements of the home institution to serve as a test-proctoring facility for others as well (i.e. licensing board exams, entrance exams, etc).
